    Guest Speaker: Sylvie Di Giusto
You've Got 7 Seconds. Make Them Count!

Meeting planners, corporate buyers, event hosts or audience members make very quick decisions about us. Should they hire us? Trust us? Buy something from us? It takes a blink of an eye and like it or not, you are going to be judged.

Because our brains are built to size each other up quickly and even if there is lots of evidence to the contrary, others will stay attached to their initial impressions. The good thing is that this impression is something you can control, and at our September chapter meeting Sylvie will show us how we can influence the message we send to others, and how to position, package and promote our offerings to deliver what meeting planners and buyers look for.

These are all things that you can shape and mold to work in your and your brand’s favor, and help you to become the successful speaker, trainer or consultant that you deserve to be. Sylvie will also provide a behind-the-scenes look into her business and share tools and techniques that have helped her to establish her brand and business online.

During this interactive program, you will

    • Learn about the psychology behind first impressions and what YOUR first impression really says about you, your personality, your credibility, your expertise, your speaking services or your speaking fee.
    • Gain clarity about the way your first impression impacts the way your leads think about the services and products you offer, and how their snap judgments influence their decision-making process.
    • Determine the many opportunities you have to leave a positive first, last, and lasting impression with your website, speaker trailer, promotional materials or the conscious and unconscious digital footprint you leave behind.

Get a behind-the-scenes tour into Sylvie’s speaking and online business and get dozens of ideas and ways to run your business more efficient and impactful.

Keynote speaker and corporate trainer Sylvie di Giusto, CSP, helps individuals and organizations explore how people make up their minds very quickly about them, their leadership potential, or their company and either open the door or slam it shut. She has nearly twenty years of corporate experience and has held senior positions, mainly in human resources, at international organizations ranging from 10 to 100,000 employees. Today, she is a recognized member of the international speaking community, having presented to every strata of management—from experienced CEOs to young executives—within a variety of industries.

Sylvie speaks to audiences around the world about the importance of “first impressions… and everything beyond” and takes them on an entertaining journey that reveals how the world sees them. She is a Certified Speaking Professional, the author of the Image of Leadership, and the creator of mobile Learning Lab “How You Impress.”
When she is not working, Sylvie is volunteering with the National Speakers Association. When she is not volunteering, she is spending time with her family and exploring the extraordinary United States—this amazing place she is lucky to call home.

What Neuroscience & Behavioral Science Have To Say About That!
Guest Speaker: Dr. John B. Molidor, CSP

Have you ever wondered how your brain really works, how it sometimes drifts away, or why you sometimes talk to yourself (even when you are presenting)? In this session, we take a look inside your brain and nervous system (and how they function together), examine how your brain is biased toward certain speaking behaviors (and it is biased), explore how both brains and bias influence your presentations, and show how your audiences learn (or don't).

Recent findings in neuroscience and behavioral science indicate what has to happen in order for behavior to change (both yours and your audience's), which is ultimately the effect that many of us desire as speakers. Many of us have also gotten to the point where we typically know what works and what doesn't, but we often don't know the underlying reason why. This research shows the why, the how, and a process to do so consistently.

In this presentation, we translate some of the brain science into applicable, doable, and easily implemented steps for stronger speaking.

    About the Speaker

Dr. John B. Molidor, CSP is a Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine. He also has strong ties to the great state of Minnesota, where he did his undergraduate work at the University of St. Thomas. And he is the CEO/President of the Neuro Based Leadership Institute.

John loves talking about the brain, understanding how it works, and using it more effectively and efficiently. He works with individuals and organizations to be stronger leaders, better decision-makers, and more inclusive. He is a Past President of the National Speakers Association (NSA), a Past President of the Global Speakers Federation (GSF), and the recent 2021 recipient of the NSA Cavett Award.

Chapter Meeting -- Rock the Virtual Stage: Creating A Bookable and Memorable Online Experience
    Guest Speaker: Tony Chatman

For decades, professional speakers have been known for the art of standing in front of a live audience and communicating their message. Many of us have spent years perfecting our craft knowing that what will often separate us from our competitors is the ability to improve the overall experience of a live event. And then, in an instant, everything changed.

Meeting planners and event organizers are now looking for speakers who can present virtually.  Speakers who can connect with their audiences and deliver their message remotely, with impact. Those speakers whose message resonate in a virtual environment will be a sought-out commodity for years to come. Yet to think that it’s as simple as taking your in-person skills and stepping in front of a camera is a misunderstanding that can lead poverty.

Tony says… "Trust me on this one, I had to transform quickly, just like you. In March, I watched as the world finally responded to Covid-19 and all of my speaking engagements vanished into thin air. After having a few conversations with clients, I started getting booked, but now these were virtual presentations. The very thing I’ve hated and tried to avoid for years. On top of that we were in quarantine and much of the technology I wanted to order was sold out everywhere. I had to figure it out and figure it out fast. From client trainings to the Influence 2020 Mainstage, I had to get it right or suffer a defeat I wasn’t willing to endure. Since COVID-19, almost every client who’s hired me has requested additional presentations leading to over 100 paid virtual presentations since the beginning of the pandemic."

In this workshop, Tony guides you through some strategies and techniques that helped convert my in-person speeches and trainings into effective online presentations. Together, we covered:

    • The differences between in-person and virtual presentations along with strategies to convert your in-person talk to a virtual presentation and make you look like a superstar speaker
    • Ways to enhance your message through slides and visuals without devolving into death by PowerPoint
    • Simple and inexpensive technology that will make your virtual presentation stand out
    • Strategies for keeping the audience engaged regardless of the platform being used
    • What Tony has learned to request from each client to ensure that the presentations were a win for both of them

As is a subject matter expert and recognized thought leader in the area of workplace relationships Tony Chatman has devoted his adult life to understanding what makes people tick, how to bring out the best in people (including ourselves), and how to pass this information on in simple, yet practical terms. Whether addressing our hidden biases, helping navigate disruption and change or providing leaders with skills that make them indispensable, Tony provides practical solutions that aligns with people’s real world experiences.

Tony Chatman delivers presentations that are an entertaining and impassioned balance of both science and practical insight. His ability to help leaders, team members, and people from every background and diversity adopt empowering mindsets and strategies that allow them to adapt, reinvent, and transform the results they produce both personally and professionally. His profound ability to connect with every audience member ensures they come away feeling that he spoke directly to them and impacted by his message.

Tony has worked with hundreds of corporations and government agencies including the U.S. Secret Service, The Department of Homeland Security, Chase Bank, Estée Lauder, and N.A.S.A., to help people reach new heights of effectiveness by understanding themselves and others better.

Tony recently completed his first book: The Force Multiplier: How to Lead Teams Where Everyone Wins and in 2018 he delivered his first TEDx talk – How to Stop Settling for Less.
