Virtual Chapter Meeting (note date change -- now Dec. 8)

Use the Power of Facilitation to Grow Your Speaking Business!
    Guest Speaker: Eddie Turner, CSP®

Increasingly, meeting planners are asking for it.  Audiences are demanding it.  What is it? More interaction from speakers!

It is no longer enough to be the “sage on the stage.” The highly-paid speakers have discovered that the key to engaging audiences is to become a facilitative speaker—both in delivering keynotes and training and in customized workshops that follow these events.  The COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to pivot to virtual work and virtual programming.  This increases the need for speakers to master the power of facilitation. This program will explain and demonstrate how professional speakers can use the power of facilitation to grow their speaking business.

    1. Define facilitation and why it matters for speakers.
    2. Identify opportunities for facilitation.
    3. Explain methods and techniques appropriate for speakers.

Eddie Turner is an in-demand leadership development expert who works with leaders as an executive coach, facilitator, and speaker to “Accelerate Performance and Drive Impact!”®   For the last two years, he has been ranked in the Top 10 on the Top 30 List of Motivational Speakers by Global Gurus.

He is a Certified Speaking Professional™ (CSP®), who has spoken at 10 NSA Chapters, the NSA Winter Conference, been featured on NSA’s Voices of Experience, and written for Speaker Magazine. He has held several leadership roles in his local NSA chapter and is in his second year of service on the National CSP® Committee.

Remember, NSA-MN’s theme for this year is AMPLIFY:

Guest Speaker: Bill Stainton, CSP, CPAE

    ShowBUSINESS: The Audience Engagement Experience
    Guest Speaker: Tami Evans

When it comes to audience engagement, the experience we create is critical, whether it is a room full of potential clients or an exchange of ideas with one other person. Customize your current content with performance techniques that will leave your audiences AND your clients delighted. You will learn easy tools that will instantly elevate your speech from words to WOW.

Former professional actress (Sex and the City, One Life to Live, Stepmom) and past President of the National Speakers Association - NYC, Tami Evans, will walk you through the process.

Sit back and enjoy Tami's performance keynote experience - then lean forward as she helps you understand how to bring pizazz to YOUR programs. Using her varied business background combined with extensive professional performance experience and training, Tami believes every personality is a story waiting to be told – she wants to help make yours a best seller!

    Why this is relevant:
An engaged audience will remember you and your message long after you leave the event or meeting. This kind of attendee enjoyment and content retention is the top priority of event planners, whose reputation relies upon what you deliver.  When an audience experiences an exceptional program, they remember you, and they talk about you, which is one of the fastest ways to grow your business.

By attending this session, participants will:

    • Explore Memorable Moments that audiences will love (and remember!)
    • Turn droning into drama.
    • Engage and delight your audiences.

Tami Evans taught Dr. Oz how to “chair dance,” served as President of the National Speakers Association of NYC, and has been performing since she discovered her Mom’s hairbrush made the perfect microphone. She has also been a corporate manager, university professor, communications specialist, professional actress, fashion designer for Banana Republic, executive assistant to Nell Carter, and every kind of waitress you can imagine.

    Chapter Meeting

Systems and Automation for Speaker Survival (or Save Time, Stress Less, and Never Miss a Thing)
Guest Speaker: Joe Mull, M.Ed, CSP

Have you struggled to get all of the tasks, steps, and to-do’s in your business out of your head and into simple, repeatable processes? Do you have trouble remembering details, deadlines, and what still needs to be done? Is your system of post-its, reminders, flags, checkmarks, notebooks, or alarms not working for you?

Whether you’re a keynoter, trainer, consultant, or coach, systems are the difference between being a scattered, forgetful amateur who can barely keep up, and being a professional, organized, on-the-details, everything-is-under-control wizard of multi-client service. In this program, Joe Mull, CSP will teach you how to create and implement the systems needed to run an organized, profitable business. If there’s anything you do again and again – programs, podcasts, coaching, blogs, etc. – you can build systems that keep you organized, efficient, and sane. This program is perfect for the busy professional in need of a systems tune-up and early-career speakers seeking sound methods for running a speaking business.

At NSA-MN’s March program, attendees will learn:

    • How to create a push-button system to execute and track all the “to-dos” for projects and processes, instead of relying on notes or memory
    • A 3-step process to turn any goal or project into a set of actionable tactics supported by sound business strategy
    • A simple activity that quickly gets information and tasks out of your head and into a system for repeated use by you or others
    • The tools, platforms, and other technology that thought-leadership business owners use to become more efficient and minimize mistakes
    • Dozens of hacks, apps, and tricks that busy communication entrepreneurs use to save time, conquer the details, and stay sane.

Joe Mull, M.Ed, CSP speaks and writes on cultivating commitment in the workplace. His company, Joe Mull & Associates, works with organizations in more than 20 states to help their leaders become better bosses and build stronger teams. Joe is the former head of Learning & Development for Physician Services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where he directed learning strategy and implementation for one of the largest physician groups in the U.S.: over 9,000 employees across 500+ locations.

In demand as a keynote speaker, Joe is the author of Cure for the Common Leader and No More Team Drama and host of the new podcast Boss Better Now. He has taught leadership courses at two major universities and holds a Masters degree in Education from Ohio University.

Joe holds the coveted Certified Speaking Professional™ (CSP®) designation from the National Speakers Association (NSA), held by fewer than 20% of professional speakers worldwide. He also serves on the board of directors for the National Speakers Association.

Joe resides outside of Pittsburgh, PA with his wife, 3 kids, and a Dalmatian named Flash. He enjoys coaching little league baseball, watching hockey, singing showtunes, and anything Disney.
