What I Learned From Winning 29 Emmys That Speakers Should Know

There are three elements to any presentation: the Structure, the Content, and the Delivery. Bill Stainton, CSP has won Emmy Awards as a producer (the structure), a writer (the content), and a performer (the delivery). Find out how a 29-time Emmy Award winner applies the lessons he learned from the world of television (and from pals like Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, and Jerry Seinfeld) to his presentations, and how you can do the same.

    You’ll learn:
    • How to think like a producer when crafting your presentations
    • How to structure your presentations for maximum effect
    • How to utilize predictable unpredictability to keep your audiences awake and interested
    • A simple rule to help you plan your openings and closings
    • How to use the secrets of comedy writers to make your speeches and stories come alive
    • How to use acting tips to turn your presentation into a performance

In Case of Emergency, Break Glass

There are many gifted speakers on the platform. (Yeah, I said it.  PLATFORM!)  But a lot of speakers are not planning for the time when they can no longer work.  Most speakers have not organized their important life documents, making an emergency that much worse.  Do you have a Will?  A Trust?  A Letter of Instruction?  (Yes, there is a difference.)  Would you be able to grab all of your important legal documents in 5 minutes or less if you have to evacuate?  If you got into an accident, would your VA or family know what to do?  Act now to take the steps you need to protect your business and your family.

Look, none of us are getting out of this alive.  We know it is coming, so let’s get out stuff organized NOW, instead of when we are lying in a hospital bed amped up on morphine when we are 97.  Do it now.

    Hear from Mary herself!

Mary Kelly, CSP is an economist, professor, and author of 11 books, multiple workbooks, CDs, DVDs, and hosts of other products that she desperately wishes she could move out of her house.  At least one of her books is a best-seller (according to Amazon one day at 3:14 AM, for exactly 3 seconds).  Mary is also going to include elements of her other best-selling personal finance book, Money Smart: How Not To Buy Cat Food When You Don’t Have a Cat to help us make sound decisions regarding finances.

“If you want to make sure you and your family is protected, then this program might help.  Lots of estate planning attorneys and financial planners are using the In Case of Emergency, Break Glass program.  Then again, it might not help at all.  I like low expectations.” –Mary Kelly

Mary loves dogs, coffee, and red wine.  Feel free to bring her some.  She became a professional speaker after retiring from the Navy after 25 years on active duty.  A university professor for over 28 years, she currently teaches at the Air Force Academy.  She previously taught leadership, management, economics and finance at the Naval Academy and Hawaii Pacific University.  Nobody sleeps through her  classes.

Mary is dedicated to helping people grow their businesses to be profitable.

Mary served on the board of the Colorado NSA Chapter, and published the NSA CO Directory to help meeting planners find and book local speakers. Mary was the Chair of the Editorial Committee of Speaker Magazine from 2014-2015, and she currently serves on the national CSP Committee and other community boards because she has not mastered the ability to saying “NO” to her friends.

As a speaker, what is the fastest way from good to GREAT? One word: Coaching. Think you can’t be a great speaker? Think again. Darren’s first performance and his championship speech are absolute proof that presenting is a learned skill.

Before becoming the World Champion out of 25,000 contestants, Darren studied ten years worth of World Champion contests over and over again. He discovered what separates the person who wins from the person who comes in second. The winners had three points in common. Want to know what they are? Come to the program and hear it directly from Darren!

Participants will give 1 to 2-minute mini-speeches and receive instant feedback from a master speaker coach!

Objectives: To give you a champion’s perspective on common presenter mistakes, along with techniques & tips that anyone can use to correct them!
